new project - rustic engagement ring box made from oak - new to the shop

my parents lost a tree during the storms we had a few weeks ago. they had a pile of branches lying on the driveway ready for pickup. i kept thinking that there has to be something you can do with that stuff (that's the craft hoarder in me). i thought i could make coasters or rings out of them and use paint or markers to make them interesting. that was a huge disappointment. but i tried again, because i'm just that stubborn and hey the branches are free! a bandsaw, drill press, a lot of sweat, obscenities and a few drops of blood and mosquito bites later and here you have it - ring boxes made from oak! i added a little embroidery for a little bit of color and fun! hope you like them!

bread

i've grown tired of the soft and tasteless bread.
i got to work this past weekend and found a simple recipe for light wheat bread.

easy to make and bake. simply yum!
i prefer it with strawberry preserves and the little one gobbles it up with nutella.

i've turned my pencil sets into prints! i found this awesome wood veneer that my printer can print on! i love the texture and feel of it!

i made some gem stone magnets last weekend! they were a lot of fun to make. here are some of my proofs for a new line of prints, that i'm creating! i'm really excited about them and they are going to be printed on wood veneer to add a little more dimension to them!

just finished this one! i thought i would use the red, blue and white striped ribbon, it reminds me of the air mail envelopes that were sent by my oma when i was little.

my medifast "lean and grean" meal minus the fish! chopped radishes, green onions, tomato, egg and baby spinach. i tried a new healthier version of thousand island from walden farms, it's pretty good!

tried a new ribbon, its kind of a string like a shoelace. much easier to use than the ribbon! love the bright colors. had fun combining them! think it will be cute for the nursery or on my office wall!

new embroidery project - te amo

i've started another project. yes, another one! this is my take on embroidery - i combined laser cutting and ribbon. i tried embroidery floss, but it just fluffed and knotted. I settled on ribbon, because it gives me a ton of colorful options! i've decided to offer each panel without hardware - one, because it fits an IKEA frame perfectly and two you can even just hang it directly to the wall with adhesive tape! I hate drilling and prefer the simplest hanging method possible!
